Which magazines do you read? Draw a demographic profile of yourself based only on the magazines you regularly read.

I think we can all come to a common agreement that now a days, everything is based upon advertisement. Ones advertisement always reaches out to a certain group of people ranging from their age, to their race/culture to ones personal activities. Depending on our interests, is what determines what we choose to read, and is what determines our own, personal, demographic.

Considering I've followed fashion my whole life is what drew me to read Vogue. Vogue's magazine is based upon readers who indulge in the latest fashion and current designers. My demographic to this magazine is indeed the fact that I am a female. Vogue's intention isn't primarily based directly towards women, however women override mens subscription with eighty-eighty percent. My age as well fits in with their demographics, Vogue focuses mainly to women from the ages of nineteen to forty-nine. Vogue reaches out to women like me who love to read about fashion, trends, fashion shows, best dressed, because they know it sells, they know we are at the age where we are trying to find our own personal fashion and possibly a future career in the business.
Following fashion only leads to gossip which leads to my next favorite magazine, Cosmopolitan! I love reading about style, beauty, and gossip. Cosmopolitan offers fun tips, dating advice, stories about relationships, basically everything I like for a fun read. All of these aspects of the magazine is how I fit into their demographic of the basic person they intend for. Age also draws me into their demographics, majority of their readers range from eighteen years of age to thirty -four, and majority are women as well. Cosmo mainly reaches out to people my age because they know a lot of us are into the whole Hollywood scene and are interested in what the celebrities are up to, their latest break ups , and get togethers, the fashion, and they know we will subscribe and buy their magazines. Cosmo has also added another addition called Cosmo Girl which is specifically drawn towards a younger audience and that isn't so explicit as Cosmopolitan is.
Being a nineteen year old women draws me into a lot of demographics for magazines, but also throws me out of the window for a lot more. In the end its all about advertisement and where you fit in when it comes to it.
